Come be a part of our second annual through the historic district of Longwood. All of the proceeds will go to benefit historic preservation in Longwood, via the Longwood Historic Society. The society maintains three buildings within the district that were built in the 1870s and 1880s. We need your help to raise money for the continuous restoration and preservation necessary to keep them around for another generation!
The race will be fun, family-friendly and Halloween themed. We invite runners to wear costumes and will be awarding prizes for the best costumes. There will be a free kids dash immediately before the 5K. Top three medals will be given to 5K winners for overall and each five-year age bracket.
The race will begin and end at the Historic Civic Center in downtown Longwood's historic district. We will have an announcer/DJ to help set the tone. Will be plenty of family appropriate music, including some Halloween favorites!
THE COURSE
The race will start and finish in front of the Historic Civic Center on Church Avenue. It will run down Church Avenue and through the brand new Reiter Park. Then runners will head west down Warren Avenue, north on Rangeline, back east on Church, one more pass through Reiter Park, and then back down Church into beautiful Historic Longwood!

THE AFTER PARTY
We will host a party after the race is over. Various refreshments will be available, including adult type and kid friendly varieties. We'll also be grilling out hotdogs and have some other snacks in kind of a street party type atmosphere! We will have fruit and veggie trays. Drink options will include “Monster Mimosas,” beer, wine, soda, and waters.
COSTUME CONTEST
We will have scouts, perhaps some local dignitaries, out there observing the crowd looking for the best costumed runners out there! They will be jotting down the bib numbers of their favorites.
From that pool of selectees, and perhaps with some audience help, we will determine the winners for best themed runners. Prizes will be awarded to those selected including gift certificates to local establishments.

CHIP TIMING
The 5K race will be chip timed by Ultimate Racing Inc. using the Jaguar Timing System. Results will be available instantly online and runners will be able to sign up for text message notifications of the finish time.
MEDALS / AWARDS CEREMONY
After the race, our MC will kick off the awards ceremony. We will present plaques to the top three overall in each gender. Age group awards for these brackets: 12 & Under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Then we will present a few awards and gift certificates for the top costumed runners.
